Well, summertime is here and you know what that means?  Kittens!  These 5 adorable furry creatures were surrendered to our hospital at the delicate age of 1 week old and we have all been lovingly hand-raising them since.  We have watched them grow and transform from tiny little babies to full-blown kittens with large personalities but they are now old enough to set off into the world on their own and become part of their own family!  Each kitten have been dewormed and will have their first set of vaccines.  There are three boys: Tank, Bruiser and Teddy and two little girls: Guiseppina and Flower.
We are happy to report that all our kittens have found their Forever Homes!

TANK:

This little guy earned his name as he has a large personality and an appetite to match!  But don't let his name fool  you -- Tank is a big Momma's Boy who loves to cuddle and play.  He is an adorable little guy who is bound to win you over!

BRUISER:
Bruiser started off as the larger of the two Tabby kittens and he has certainly lived up to his name!  He is a fun loving and rambunctious little fellow who can usually  be found pouncing on his  brothers and sisters or carrying around his favorite stuffed mouse.  He is sure to melt your heart!

TEDDY: .
Though Teddy might be a little smaller than his tabby brother, don't let his size fool you.  He has a big personality and is extremely affectionate and playful.  He also had one heck of a motor and can be heard purring from across the room!

GUISEPPINA:
Guiseppina is the more outgoing of the two girls and she loves to wrestle with her brothers.  She is always on the go (hence the blurry picture - she just won't stay still for the camera!) and loves to play with her little 'jingle' ball.  Her personality is as beautiful as she is and she is extremely sweet and loving - she will happily abandon her toys for a chance to curl up on a deserving lap!

FLOWER:
Flower is our shy little girl who loves to curl up on your lap and cuddle.  But don't let her quiet demeanor fool you -- she has a real playful streak and she loves to race around and play 'tag' with her siblings.  Just one look into her soulful little eyes is sure to melt your heart!

Oliver is one of the most loving kittens you'll ever meet!  His foster mom has had experience with many cats and kittens and has never met a kitten as “sweet” as Oliver.  He loves to be cradled and pet and purrs nonstop!  He happily lets you bury your face in his belly for kisses for as long as you like.

He lives in a house with four other cats of various sizes and ages and he gets along perfectly with everyone.  He likes to have a companion his own size to play with, and would do best in a home with another kitten to keep him company.
Ideally, Oliver would be adopted with his friend Suma (see next listing), to whom he has become very attached.  He can, however, be adopted out without Suma.

Oliver was found in a backyard under some debris with his parents and two siblings.  The other cats ran away quickly once they were discovered, but a friend of mine managed to catch Oliver as he was escaping.

Oliver was born with a congenital neurological issue.  This issue shows only in the fact that he will turn in tight circles when he is very scared or very excited.  Given this condition, Oliver would NOT do well as an outdoor or indoor/outdoor cat, as he might easily get hit by a car or caught by predators.

Oliver has mostly outgrown this condition and we don't believe that this will affect his health or life in the future.

This sweet kitten is too young to be neutered yet, but he has been completely vaccinated and dewormed, and has tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.

Who can resist those eyes??
Lookin' Adorable!
Awwww....!
What a beauty!  Jezebel was found by a kind neighbor of our hospital.  When she first arrived she was very dehydrated and had a slight head wobble that we were concerned was related to the deadly FIP virus or to the equally frightening Feline Leukemia or FIV.  She needed to be force fed and we gave her lots of fluids and she started to come around.  Eventually the wobbling got better - but we still wanted to make sure!  After a round of blood viral testing it was determined that Jezebel is free and clear of any viral infection!

Jezebel is an absolute sweetheart! She's extremely affectionate and has one heck of a little motor on her!  She's great with the other cats and is beginning to figure out that the dogs make excellent playmates!  She loves to cuddle and seems to think the forehead of her foster mommy (our Office Manager Jen) makes a rather nice bed to sleep on in the middle of the night.  Unfortunately, Jezebel has some health issues.

Routine blood work done before her spay surgery revealed that she has a liver shunt - a biopsy confirmed this fear. For those of you who don’t know what a liver shunt is, it is a vessel in the liver that did not close off after birth.  When the fetus is in the womb it doesn’t use its own liver to filter its blood - all blood gets filtered through the mother’s liver.  After birth, these vessels are supposed to close but in the case of a liver shunt, they didn’t.  This means that unfiltered blood is going right to the heart.

Liver shunts are generally pretty rare in cats - but unfortunately not rare enough.  Jezebel is on a special diet and some medicine and she’s doing great. But if symptoms ever worsen it can mean more medication and even surgery!  Without proper treatment or surgery (if needed), her life may be shortened.  That's why we have made it our mission to ensure that whatever time she has with us is as full of love as possible!

Jezebel is looking for a very special home with someone who understands how critical it is to make sure her diet is controlled, what symptoms to look for and who understands that surgery may be needed down the road.  If you are that special person, please let us know!

Hemi was found under our Hospital Administrator (Jen Febel) neighbor’s deck and has been living at Jen's house ever since.  He’s extremely affectionate but can be a little shy at first and with strangers.  He got his name after the Hemi engine since he loves to purr!  Hemi is definitely a lap cat and will do best in a home where he can soak up his parents love.  He loves to cuddle and will happily curl up beside you or on you for hours on end!  He has had limited exposure to other cats, but seems to enjoy their company and he seems to feel that dogs are just big, funny-looking cats! Hemi is looking for his forever home where he can be loved and adored like he deserves!

Vaccine Status: Hemi is fully up to date on his FVRCP & Rabies vaccines.  He has also been tested, and is negative, for both Feline Leukemia and FIV

We are happy to report that after months of searching, Hemi has finally found his Forever Home!

Willy is quite a little character with tons of energy and a total zest for life!  He was brought to our hospital, along with his sister Diva (who has found her forever home).  When he first came in, his left eye was so infected that we weren't sure if he would ever be able to see.  With time, patience and lots of TLC his eye made a full recovery and he's doing great!  Because the infection was so severe, his left eye continues to need some medication to make sure the infection doesn't return - but we're hoping as he gets older he can stop his eye medication forever!

We are happy to report that after months of searching, Willy has finally found his Forever Home!

Name: Tia
Breed: Terrier Mix
Sex: Female/Spayed
Age: Approx. 7 years old

Every once and a while, a pet comes in that captures our hearts. Tia, a seven year old Terrier mix, is one of them.

Her energy is contagious. Her personality will light up the darkest room. You can’t help but smile when that cute little tail starts-a-waggin’, or when she dances on her hind feet to get a treat.

Tia thrives on the attention of others and is eager to please.

Could she be yours?

Tia is searching for her forever home.  She requires her new family to be: loving, patient, and gentle. She enjoys long strolls in the park where she can show off her fashionable outdoor wear (included), cuddling by the tv/fire, and endless conversation.  Tia is very playful with other animals and adapts well to her surroundings. She would prefer to live in a grown-up household.

Tia is healthy: up-to-date on all vaccines, has been on heartworm prevention, is spayed, and gets groomed regularly.  As all pets do, she requires an annual check-up to maintain her healthy status.

Tia is currently being fostered by our very own Dr. McLaughlin and is looking forward to settling into a permanent residence.

If you are interested in, or would like more information on Tia please contact our Administrator Jen at jfebel@svh.ca or 905.881.8310

Name: Shocker
Breed: American Eskimo
Sex: Male, Neutered
Age: Approx. 1 year old
Sometimes it happens that owners need to give up their pets due to circumstances beyond their control -- that is the case with little Shocker.  Here's what Shocker's daddy had to say about the little guy:

"Shocker is a high energy puppy that has lots of love to give!! He needs a home where he will get lots of playtime and walks. A fenced backyard is a must for Shocker- he especially loves to plow through the snow in the winter. He loves to chew and play fetch and tug of war. He has been neutered and is healthy and strong. We love Shocker but will have 3 kids under the age of 5 (new baby coming in Aug) and don't have the time to devote to him. When I look in his eyes I know that finding him a loving home that has time for him is the best thing to ensue he has a happy life!!!"

Name: Oliver
Breed: Domestic Long Hair

Name: Satsuma ('Suma')
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Sex: Male
Birthday: May 8, 2009
Suma is a gorgeous kitten with endless love to give.  He has spurts of energy (where he will play non stop with a dangling toy), followed my lulls of snoozing (during which he’d love to cozy up the nearest available human).  He likes to be cradled like a baby and have his ears rubbed, and purrs nonstop when he sees people.

Suma was born to a stray mother who raised him until he was two months old.  He is still easily startled by new things, and often jumps straight into the air when surprised.  He settles down immediately when he recognizes you, though.  He lives in a house with three other cats of various sizes and loves to play with them all.

He would do best in a house with another kitten or young cat to keep him company and help him learn that new situations are nothing to be afraid of.  Given that he is easily startled by new situations, he would NOT do well as an outdoor or indoor/outdoor cat.
Ideally he would love to be adopted with his best foster friend, Oliver - they make a winning team!  He can, however, be adopted out without Oliver.

Suma is an adorable little tiger with a larger than life personality and plenty of love to give.

This sweet kitten is too young to be neutered yet, but he has been completely vaccinated and dewormed, and has tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia
